  • Discussion on Epistolary Fiction
  • Sign up for one short story from Emma Donoghue’s Astray.
    • ‘Counting the Days’ is based on the 1840s correspondence of two emigrants from Northern Ireland to Canada.
    • ‘Onward’ is suggested by several letters from Charles Dickens about a family he helped to emigrate to Canada.
    • ‘The Gift’ is inspired by letters to a New York adoption agency from the birth mother and adoptive father of a little girl
  • Creative Writing: write a short story using the epistolary form
  • Sign-up for Letters of Historical Note
  • Things to think about:
    • Letters of Note
    • Final Project
      • Areas of exploration for your final project.
      • What aspects of letter-writing or the epistolary format have intrigued you?
      • Are there areas of interest we haven’t explored?
  • Reminder: Letter #2, NEW DUTE DATE: October 26.
