Before Class

  • Your presentation should be completed and submitted via Canvas before class.
  • Commenting / Online Discussions
    • Refer to the list from last week. You will need to comment on 3 other student’s posts, based on the list below. Due this week, comment on students that are 2, 4, and 6 below you.
    • Be sure to use our FYS183 group in Hypothes.is
    • Once you’ve commented on your three students, post their names in Canvas.

  • WWII Writing Project is by Wednesday, October 18.
  • Process Letter, due by Thursday October 19.
  • Reminders:
    • Letter #2, NEW DUTE DATE: October 26.
    • Sign up for one short story from Emma Donoghue’s Astray.
      • ‘Counting the Days’ is based on the 1840s correspondence of two emigrants from Northern Ireland to Canada.
      • ‘Onward’ is suggested by several letters from Charles Dickens about a family he helped to emigrate to Canada.
      • ‘The Gift’ is inspired by letters to a New York adoption agency from the birth mother and adoptive father of a little girl.

Weekly Writing

  1. This weekly writing should focus on anything that you found particularly interesting from this week’s presentation or doing your own presentation.
  2. Weekly Writings will be due by Monday of each week.
  3. Submit your post URL in Canvas.
